Welcome, Class of 2027!
The New Student & Family Programs team is excited to welcome you to the University of Denver!
Your New Student Welcome Experience will consist of a few components starting as early as May when you deposit and throughout your entire first year at the University of Denver.
- Discoveries Online Experience (virtual orientation)
- Discoveries Orientation (in-person orientation including Family Orientation)
- 4D Peer Mentorship
- First Ascent
- First Year Programs
New Student Orientation, or as we call it here, Discoveries Orientation, is our introduction to the DU experience. Discoveries consists of both online and in-person content. Our online content will be available beginning in May. To learn more about this content, visit our Discoveries Online tab.
Our in-person Discoveries Orientation programming begins on the Tuesday of Move In and programming is ongoing until the start of classes. During this time, you can expect to learn how to be successful inside and outside of the classroom at DU, navigate campus, learn about valuable resources and support services while getting to know your peers!
For the 2024 Winter Term, our residential first-year and transfer students will move in on Friday, January 5th. Discoveries Orientation will take place following move in with on-going programs and events from January 5-7.
Mission
New Student and Family Programs is committed to the successful transition of new students and families into the University of Denver campus community. We do this by providing inclusive, holistic, student-centered programming aimed at empowering student academic success, personal growth and meaningful connections.
Discoveries Orientation Program Outcomes
Through participation in the Discoveries Orientation program, new students will:
Learn about student roles and responsibilities of becoming a University of Denver community member
Explore the resources and opportunities that support students' academic, social, and health and wellness goals
Develop skills centered on self-awareness, social interactions, and engaging with the diverse identities, ideas, and experiences of others in the community
Develop a sense of belonging and connection to the University of Denver and the greater Denver community
